Mixed 'N' Matched Love: Ch. 9 - Edited.
Drew's POV:
While I was waiting for Nick to come over to the fields, I sat waiting for her very bored on this huge boulder on top of this big hill. After a few minutes, I saw a bunch of black hair flying around and I knew that she was almost here. But, after another minute or so, she was still not on top of the hill and I was dying from all the excitement I had kept bottled up inside of me.
I sighed deeply, thinking that maybe it wasn’t such a good idea to tell her to meet on top of such a big hill. One of the minor ones would’ve worked too. But, it was too late now, Nick was already here.
I shot a grin towards her and then turned my head back over to the side as I waited her to walk over to me. But, I had to do a double take as I noticed something new about Nick that I had never seen before. Instead of Nick’s usual hair-in-her-face look, my eyes had caught onto a whole new other face. The face belonging to the girl I had just met. Nikki's face, to be exact.
I tried to make myself believe that that girl could not have been Nick, because she would’ve never worn a red dress like that let alone such a short one that also showed off her great legs – ok, I seriously need to stop thinking about her like that – ever! And besides she saw me and I wasn’t really wearing anything special that would cover my face or anything, so if she saw me, she would’ve knew that was me. So, that couldn’t have possibly been her? Could it?
I was so confused right now. But, I knew that the only thing I could do was just wait and see.
But, I couldn’t wait, because as soon as she came up to me, I blurted out, "That-that girl, Nikki, you look just like her.”
“Uh, Drew, I can-I can explain.” she replied, sounding just as shocked as I was.
"I'm listening." I crossed my arms over my chest and waited for her to say what she wanted to.
I couldn’t help but notice her hesitating to speak.
“Look Drew, I never told you this, but I…have a twin.” she finally said.
“What?” I questioned, trying to comprehend what she just told me.
“Yeah, her name’s Nikki and I guess she’s the one that you got set up with by my aunt and your parents,” she explained, taking a seat across from me. “And the reason why you’ve never met her is because she’s been living at a boarding school this whole time.”
“Oh, really? And why’s that?”
I didn't know if I truly believed everything she was saying right now, because of the way that she was speaking, but that didn't necessarily stop Nick from insisting that it was.
“She got into some trouble.” Nick answered, skeptically.
“What kind of trouble?” I pressed.
“Boy trouble.” she said, almost immediately.
“What-“ I was cut off, by an even quicker response.
“She doesn’t like talking about.”
“Oh?” I didn’t mean for that to come out as a question, but it just sorta did.
It’s not that I didn’t trust Nick; it’s just that lately she’s been hiding quite a few things from me and I just really hoped this wasn’t another.
We sat in silence for a little while, the both of us just staring off into space somewhere. My eyes moved over onto Nick and I saw how desperately she was trying to get her hair to calm down and just stay in place.
I sighed and smiled, making my way over to her. I sat down next to her on her boulder and placed two hands on her shoulders.
"Hey, now that I've seen your face, you don't need to hide it from me," I told her, brushing her hair back behind her ears. "Your just as beautiful as you were as a kid."
I noticed her blushing and I couldn't help grinning back. Nick grabbed my hand all of a sudden then and pulled me into a giant bear hug.
"I bet you'll keep my sister real happy." she whispered in my ear.
"I will, don't worry." I whispered back.
And it was the truth. I would do my best to fulfill that promise I made to her.
