The game surprised me when I was told it was held at night.  They said the heat would kill us all.  I couldn't argue, it is the heat waves just the other day attacked me. I was already nervous, first match was us and we lost.  Everyone cheats in this game why can't we, or at least I?   No one plays fair and unless you even out the playing field we are just going to keep on failing.  Walking off the court he stopped me.  A hand on my shoulder forced my attention to him.

                "I'm sorry I didn't mean to make us lose."

                "It's okay, as long as we don't play last."

The conversation was short, as I watched him walk away I was surprised by his smile.  He really liked baskestball.  Just as much as I like soccer.  Which worried me as I thought about it.  I had a game coming up and I had to cut each pratice short not to mention I was missing tonights.  This sucked, this hole system thank god tonight I finally decided it's over. I waiting for our names once again to be called.  We lost that game to, then Kai abused me.  In front of everyone they watched him touch me so freely and no one did anything about it.  I told him I hated him, hated him.  I meant every word too.  My life was becoming miserble, He couldn't have been that embarassed from a splash of water.  HOw was this pay back any fair?  It was just as cheap as this game, this system an I couldn't be anymore ready to get rid of it. Stepping onto the court as both Kai and I waited for the other pair he broke our silence.

                "So, when we win think of a place you'd like to go.  We can celebrate."

                "Yeah, as if.  After today we wont have to think of such nonsense."  I said biting my tongue.

That was something I should have waited to say.  Now when I looked at him it was anger.  Just as the last to couple walked onto the court.  He laughed and I stayed wary of him.

                "If you're going to betray me then do it.  Don't be such a bitch about it."  He told me as the whistle blew.

I accepted his challenge and everytime I had the ball I passed it to the other team.  I bet Kai didn't think I would do something so crafty.  I enjoyed every second of it, watching him struggle just to win.  HThere was no way he could do it, everytime he scored the other team did too.  They were ahead of him even if it was just by two points.  It was what saved me from being here any longer, saved me from being Kai's honey.

Th bounced over to me as I lunged forward for it, "MOVE OUTTA THE WAY!"  The boy from the other team said pushing me.

Falling backwards I slammed into the net poll, however, it didnt hurt like I thought it would.  When I turned my head I say Kai, why would he being helping me?  All I did was hurt him?  Protecting my head I slammed into his hand instead.

                "Kai-"

                "Shut up and watch me win."

As he walked off he still contiued to fight for me, it made me feel bad, guilty even.  Damn I said to myself.  Now I have to do something, cant just sit here and pretend like I don't care.  Even if he was an asshole, in the weirdest way he was kind.  The stupid things like this made him better then the person he acts like.  It made me the bad guy. Kai made the shots but the last was one me.  I knew it when i caught the ball.  Yuzuru told me to stay as they held down Kai.

                "Fuck my life."  I said aloud.

I through the ball up and tossed it and just as it was about to fall out Kai, slammed it in.  I stood there shocked where he came from beat me.  I was just glad we won.  When the annouced our names he came to me.

                "Sorry."  I said.

Doing what I least expected he pulled me in for a hug, "I'm not going to give you up that easily."
