I wake up to smoke filling the air
I start to choke and my heart fills with despair
Its getting hotter and hotter as my world burns to ash
I start to scream as i see my life start to flash
Everywhere i look i see nothing but flames
And then i recognize my world will never be the same
I search for my family but they are nowhere to be found
And the next thing i know im in pain and on the ground
Pain shot through my body when i tried to move away
And then i suddenly felt angry like an animal at bay
As i lay there and thought i was probably gonna die
I felt a sudden flash of pain and i started to cry
All of a sudden the pain i had was gone without a trace
And i opened my eyes to see a very worried face
He looked at me and said "you going to be okay"
And i remember him whispering that same thing the whole way
When we emerged from the house people rushed to our sides

And as they put me on the stretcher i thanked the man who saved my life
That day was very tragic and it haunts me everyday
Im just thankful that we made it out and everyones okay
I sometimes sit and think about everything ive learned
And wonder if people know when you play with fire you get burned
